Managing LSI
   Most people know better than to go swimming in a green pool, but crystal clear water can still be poorly balanced and cause big problems.
That's where LSI comes in. LSI (Langelier Saturation Index) is a system of scoring your pool's calcium carbonate saturation. If your LSI is too high, it can form scale, depositing excess calcium to the surface of your pool. If it's too low, the water will absorb calcium from your pool's plaster causing etching. At Mako Pools, we actively monitor and balance your pool's LSI within acceptable levels.
The Science of Clarity
   Chlorine kills bacteria in your pool to keep you from getting sick, but it doesn't break down all organic materials. Body oils, sunscreen, skin cells-these all can make your pool water blurry even when your chlorine and LSI are good. They can even inhibit chlorine's ability to do it's job. At Mako, we use Orenda's CV-600 enzyme pool cleaner to break down all those organic components. The result is pool water that's not just sanitized, but truly clean and clear.
